2016 Ambush Gives Back – A B4BC Benefit Event

Ambush Hosts a Fun Day of Wakeboarding for a Good Cause

Ambush Gives Back

My sunglasses saved me all day last Saturday at Terminus Wake Park.  Not only was the sun brighter than a St. Pauli Girl sign in a college dorm room, but I had to make sure that I kept my man card securely in my back pocket.  There were so many touching moments at the Ambush Gives Back benefit event that the ever-present smile on my face occasionally gave way to a certain level of emotion that I’m not accustomed to at an Ambush event.  Ambush Gives Back  B4BC Benefit was rewarding and fulfilling in so many ways.

The motivation for putting on our inaugural Ambush Gives Back event was the fact that two of the three women in the Ambush founding family are breast cancer survivors.  Our family has had two unbelievably positive outcomes when it comes to battling and defeating breast cancer.  Other families have not been so fortunate.  In a gracious effort to pay it forward, we wanted to put on this event to help raise money for Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC), a charity whose sole purpose is supporting those in the action sports community who are affected by breast cancer. Ambush Crew Wakesurf Review

A few of us decided to grab some of the industry leading surfers and give you a little inside look and share our thoughts.  Our main goal is obvious…we just want to ride behind our Nautique Boats G21 w/ NSS as much as humanly possible every week.  We loaded the boat full of boards from Hyperlite, Slingshot, Ronix, Liquid Force, Byerly, and Inland Surfer.  We even have a little sneak peak with a 2016 Slingshot that you’re sure to love!

2015 Hyperlite Hi-Fi – Billy

Billy HiFi

This was my first time riding one of Hyperlite’s Dura-Shell construction boards.  The Dura-Shell construction really adds some needed durability to the surfer and also sheds a TON of weight off the board.A few things I noticed when picking up the board for the first time was the overall weight.  Sucker is LIGHT.  I also really liked that the board had a hard edge profile that ran tip to tail.  For a skim-style board, this is essential since this style of board is typically pretty loose on the water.  Finally, the fins.  This surfer does not come with a traditional surf (fish-shaped) fin, instead it comes with 3 – 0.8” P-Wings that provide just enough grip while allowing you to free up the board easily for spins and shuv’s. The [re]aWAKEning Wrap-Up

Atlanta area wakeboarding has entered a new era. Much has changed in the three years since our last wakeboard contest. A new breed of rider is now dominating the podium. Young and hungry rippers, led by the Jackson Five, are pushing the old guard aside. Exit Rhett Whatley; enter Tripp Brown. Brett and Brandon Lee? Are you sure you’re not thinking of Justin Lee?

As different as The [re]aWAKEning was, some things never change. Britt Rothove rode well and placed again, Paul “Turbo Urbo” Urbanowski helped us understand what wakeboarding is really all about, and the skies predictably poured rain all over the contest site.

Although the weather was rough, Lake Arrowhead was perfect. And, the rain kept all the kooks away. Read More >

The Times they are a Changin’

It has already been a year of change here at Ambush Board Co. and we are only a few months in. This past fall, the shop saw a serious remodel of the skate side of the store. With a new counter system, new Volcom and RVCA build outs, and updated concrete floors, things are looking good. Next up for Ambush is a total remodel of the wake and snow side. Construction began hard wood floors and will soon move into creating the most advanced wake and snow set up ever seen before. We are building a shopper friendly area that appeals to the novice all the way to advance rider. We are creating a unique boot try on area, custom displays from Liquid Force, Hyperlite, and Ronix, and a true place for all to come together and get everything they need to ride. So if you happen to be in the area, please stop by and see what we have gearing up for 2012. A bright new interior with the same great service. Hope to see you soon. Read More >
