Archives for Ambush Board Co

Welcome, Corrie Dyer

We’re pleased to announce that the already-heavy-hitting Ambush Wakeboard Team has added another person to the roster, Corrie Dyer.

Corrie hails from Crossville Tennessee and has made a name for herself over the past five years as one of the top female talents in the deep South. Look out for Corrie this year at a wakepark near you on her 2014 Slingshot Pearl.

Corrie Dyer Ambush Team Rider

Corrie recently participated in a long-distance boat trip down the Mississippi with a handful of other pros. The trip was documented for a wake film dubbed The Voyage by JOA Productions set for a 2014 release.

This video captures Corrie’s easy going attitude as well as her smooth style on a wakeboard. Needless to say, we’re pumped to have Corrie on the team. Read More >

65 Degrees and Sunny

In my opinion, there is only one thing to do on a perfect weather day. That is go skate. Cool, blue skies, a light breeze and fresh Georgia air got me out of the house real quick. I rounded up a couple of the Ambush boys Wes and Zeke as well as the good homies Dakota Plumley and Brenden Lagna. We all met up at the new Kennesaw Skatepark to start a sweet day of shredding. We put in a solid 5 hours of non stop skating. Here is a little montage to show what we got!

The Traveling LTD Project

We’ve teamed up with Shredtown to produce a limited run of the 2014 Slingshot Shredtown shape and want to give you the chance to try it out. With only 20 boards made, they will be gone fast. Knowing that the demand will far exceed supply for this rare wakeboard, we decided to send one board out on the road to show the people what it’s all about.

Participating in the Traveling LTF Project is simple:

  • Sign up for you chance to keep the board for a week and share your good times with us.
  • Winners will be notified one week before their turn.
  • Slingshot will be sending all winners a swag bag full of goodies like t-shirts, hats, and stickers.
  • Ambush is covering all shipping costs.
  • When your time with the board is up, we will be in contact with you to arrange for the LTD to continue its journey.

    R.I.P. Black Diamond Skatepark

In 2001, Discover Mills Mall was lucky to be blessed with an amazing skatepark designed by the one and only Camp Woodward. At the time is was named Woodward Skatepark. It had everything every skater dreamed of. It had handrails, kinked handrails, a foam pit, spines, vert ramp, mini mega ramp, euro gaps, and ledges of all sizes. Although it was such an amazing place, they struggled to stay open. The skatepark closed three times for months on end, collecting dust until someone stepped in to open it back up. It went from Woodward Skatepark to X Games Skatepark to United Skatepark, and it’s last label, Black Diamond Skatepark. About 2 months ago we heard rumor it was closing down for good. I didn’t believe it until I saw pictures of them actually taking the ramps apart. It was home to many amazing skaters like Travis Glover, Jordan Lucas, Warren Devarennes, and Anthony Dodaro. Those guys would probably not be where they are today if it wasn’t for that park opening. It’s always a bummer seeing a skatepark close. I was lucky enough to get out with some of the Ambush guys for one last shred! Here’s what we got. R.I.P. 2001-2014. Read More >

Jay Jay Patterson Bids Farewell to Atlanta, Joins Ambush Alumni

Jay Jay's last big hurrah at Nick's Back Porch.Today marks a bittersweet landmark in the Ambush timeline.  Jay Jay Patterson, one of the most influential personalities we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, has officially flown South to Miami on a one way ticket.

“I came to the company in 2003, a scrawny kid with an awkward voice that loved skating,” Jay Jay explains.  “I was forced to challenge myself and will continue to do so.”

For those who don’t know, Jay Jay is the type of person who doesn’t set personal barriers for himself.  He goes out and gets what he wants and if he can’t, he figures out how.  That’s exactly what he’s doing now.  Thanks for everything JJ, we wish you all the success in the world. Read More >

Ambush Mini Riot Presented by Red Bull – Full Recap

Screen Shot 2014-01-27 at 12.52.40 PMPeak retail season is over. The hard work is done and Mazza Mondays are back in full force. There is no better way to start off 2014 than with an awesome mini ramp contest! Early morning yawns and 30 degree weather aren’t enough to stop skateboarders from coming out to compete for $500 bucks! Huge thanks to Red Bull for putting the contest together and Jonah Owings from Hazard County Skatepark  for constructing a flawless mini ramp!

This is how the contest worked: two divisions (Cruisers and Shredders), 32 skaters in each division, 4 man heats with each rider getting two 45 second runs, and the best one advances. Second place winners earned $250 cash and first place winners earned $500 cash! People from all over came out to compete for that big purse money. Huge thanks to all the people and companies that came out to support the contest. This was probably one of my favorite contests that was have hosted so far. Well that’s enough rambling from me. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking! Read More >

    Franchise FLX Product Review

It’s unreal to think that we now have a full cable park right down the street! Located in Cartersville, Ga., Terminus Wake Park is truly a blessing for wakeboarders in the Atlanta area. I’m more excited than a Lake Allatoona fisherman would be if they found out a Bass Pro Shop was going in right next door! (And yes, that might actually happen too.) Yeehaw!

With all the excitement of having such an amazing cable park so close, it’s easy to overlook things like a good “cable” board, or maybe that’s just me? When I heard that thing was up and running, I grabbed my Hyperlite Murray and voided that warranty with no hesitation. Within a week I slid my board to the core and crushed one of the corners on a feature. So don’t be a dummy like me and ruin a perfectly good boat board. Keep your boat board alive and get a solid cable board in your quiver. You won’t be disappointed. A cable specific board lasts longer and will be a whole lot more fun. Read More >

Remote Ben Horan x Ambush LTD 40″ Wakeskate

When this idea came to light it was a no brainer.  Ben Horan has one of the greatest attitudes and it shows not only in his style, but his work ethic.  We gave Ben complete creative freedom with this project and a understanding that only a select few would have the opportunity to own a true limited wakeskate.  The eleven skates available for purchase make this a hyperstrike.  The result speaks for itself…a 40″ Swamp Thing that demands respect and should be used to its fullest potential.  Ben went even further with this project and provided the Aquarium Hardgoods grip tape and Aquarium Hardgoods Reggie Fin.  Ok…we must confess we have one hanging in our office, but it’s a nod to the Ambush archive of success in promoting wakeskating.  Our support and passion run deep and our Team Riders; Josh Zentmeyer, Danny Hampson, and Ben Horan.
