Ambush Alumni: Juston Tucker

The Ambush family strives to build and cultivate the local community and give people an opportunity to do what they love.  As stated in the previous Ambush Alumni post with Ryan Dearth, we have been so lucky to have such an amazing group of people come through our doors and work with us.  Allow us to introduce another one of them to you!

Meet Juston Tucker.  Juston grew up 20 minutes from the shop in the Acworth area, and worked for us between 2000 and 2002.  Shortly after leaving Ambush, Juston moved to California and began working in the marketing deprtment for Podium Distribution.  Podium Distribution, at the time, was the home of DVS, Lakai and Matix.  Juston left marketing and now designs footwear full time.  When asked about how he made the switch from marketing to footwear design Juston said: Read More >

17 Years…Where Has the Time Gone?

On Friday June 13th, 2014 we turned 17 years old.  If Ambush Board Co. were an individual, we would be able to drive our own car with up to 3 people (under the age of 21, that is) inside of it, but we’d still have to be home by the 12 AM curfew.  We would be close to graduating high school and looking for prospective colleges to spend our prime partyin’ days.

But, we’re not just an individual.  In our minds we’re a revolutionary business.  What have we done in the 17 years of our existence?  Here is a brief and very abridged rundown, as told through pictures.

1996

In the late months of 1996 and the beginning of 1997, we were finalizing our first logo.

65 Degrees and Sunny

In my opinion, there is only one thing to do on a perfect weather day. That is go skate. Cool, blue skies, a light breeze and fresh Georgia air got me out of the house real quick. I rounded up a couple of the Ambush boys Wes and Zeke as well as the good homies Dakota Plumley and Brenden Lagna. We all met up at the new Kennesaw Skatepark to start a sweet day of shredding. We put in a solid 5 hours of non stop skating. Here is a little montage to show what we got!

Top 5 Smoke Shows that Can Ride Better than You

In the past several years, women have made a huge impact on Action Sports.   My favorite part of the impact they’ve made…how sexy they make riding a board.  I’m going to keep this short and sweet.   Here are my top 5 smoke shows that can ride better than you.

5. Jamie Anderson – Pro Snowboarder

Jamie Anderson just came off with the biggest win of her career.   She won the first-ever Women’s Slopestyle at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.   She has had a solid resume of podium finishes throughout her career.   She can do handstands in bikinis, as well…that deserves a gold.

Jamie Anderson can melt you with her smile.

Mazza Monday: Another Monday

It’s still summertime and I’m living the good life.

Last weekend I rode the MegaBus up to Nashville, TN with Max and CatNip. Boy was that a good time. We did a lot of skating, met the Fully Torqued RV Tour guys and partied our asses off. To give you the info on the Fully Torqued RV Tour, it’s Clint Walker’s RV that he is living in for a whole year. Clint is traveling the U.S with people from the Ambig and Birdhouse teams. Clint Walker, Clive Dixon, Dirty the Photographer, Trevor Vaughan and filmer Trevor Owens were all out on the road together. Clint has a cousin that lives in the boonies of TN with a bunch of land. So, Clint was nice enough to pack the RV full of the three of us and all the Nashville homies and take us out there. Chugging, grilling out and shooting mad fireworks! It was an awesome time. Big thanks to Clint! Read More >

Mazza Mondays: Fishing and Skating – It’s Summer Time

Here’s to another Mazza Monday.

A lot of fishing has been going on this summer. You can catch me on the water with Josh, Charlie, CatNip, and Max. We have been cranking them in. Fake worms, spinner baits, jigs, crank baits all seem to be working good. It’s summer time so the fish are destroying the top water baits, buzz baits, Pop R’s. Weightless worms are my favorite lures as of now. Ok, enough of the fishing BS.

Not only has the summer brought a bunch of fishing, it as well has brought a bunch of good skating! Even in this heat, we are out there all day long sweating our asses off ’til the sun goes down. This summer has been awesome! Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Kickflips, Back Tails, Back Smiths, beers, the beach, and friends. I can’t ask for anything better. Read More >

Atlanta Skateboarding History Lesson

Atlanta has always been known for its working class skate scene.  We work hard and we play even harder.  After a quick little sit down with our very own Stormy Pruett, I’ve come up with a little piece of Atlanta skateboarding history to share with you.

O.G.s

Some recognizable names that pioneered Atlanta skateboarding might include; Jimmy O’Brien, Load, Fred Reeves, Mark Jones, Andy Howell and Thomas Taylor.  A lot of this information comes from before my time, so forgive me if I missed a name or two.  Most of these dudes still rip to this day.  If you hang out at the Old 4th Ward Skatepark enough, you will definitely see some of these dudes drop in and kill it!  If you do see them around, make sure to thank them for paving the way for the rest of us little turds. Ruby Tuesdays-‘Tis the Season

Hey guys! Welcome back to another installment of Ruby Tuesdays!

As you may have noticed, Spring is here. The weather is getting nicer, the days are getting longer, and there is pollen on EVERYTHING. I hate pollen.
It’s been making it quite difficult to get motivated to go out and skate, by the time I get out my allergies start to act up. Which sucks, cause it’s getting to be perfect skating weather now, and school is almost out.
Lee brought up a good point earlier, that this is the second best time of the year to skate only because of the pollen. Besides that, the weather is amazing and the days are getting longer.

Granted that not too much skating has been going on for me, we’ve been keeping up with our band, Space Orphan.
We played a show last Friday at the ARTS AGAINST HIERARCHY DIY art show at The Arts Exchange, downtown. It was quite an interesting experience, the Arts Exchange is this super run down, old building tucked away behind some trees off of I-20 East. It was a benefit art show with all proceeds going towards the building of the Atlanta Social Center, with free admission. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when we arrived there. It was a cool vibe, definitely not what I expected though. We hung out for about an hour, checked out some local art, and watched our new friend Josh Loner play an acoustic set in the main hallway for about 20 minutes. The guy has some interesting subject matter in his songs, and he was really nice too. He had a powerful voice, that dude could wail! Read More >

Ruby Tuesdays: Tunes, yo.

Hey! Welcome back to another installment of Ruby Tuesdays!

As of lately, it seems like life has been going pretty well! Good vibes, good people, and good times! Tyler and I’s band, Space Orphan, played our first show on March 2nd, in Heaven at the Masquerade, and it was a fantastic time. We got to play at 9:00 pm and couldn’t have made it happen without you guys. Thanks so much to everyone for supporting us and coming out! Lee did a blog post a couple weeks back on it, check it out here.
Skateboarding has been slowly making its way back into my routine now that the weather is getting better, which is quite exciting. Time to get some clips, I hope you guys are ready for the 24 hour video contest coming up! Read More >
