2016 Snow Product Preview – AmbushBoardCo.

Temperatures are slowly dropping.  Football is back in full swing on the television.  It’s time to start thinking about booking an epic snowboarding trip for you and your buddies to take this winter while airfare is still cheap.  The mountain is calling.  We know you’ve got the itch!

Here is our list of items we’ve got coming in that you should keep an eye out for this season as you start thinking about updating your gear.  Consider this our version of the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list for slaying the mountain this year.  Check it out:

  1. Stomp Pads

Let’s face it, nobody wants to be the Jabroni holding up the lift line because you just had a garage sale getting off at the top.

Lift Jabroni

Save yourself the embarrassment and pick up a proper stomp pad.  We have fresh ones from your favorite brands like Burton, Volcom, Lib Tech, and Dakine…or from your new favorite stomp pad brand – Crab Grab.

Their sh*t is bananas!  Join the revolution against slippage and get one for your snowboard.

  1. Socks

For the love of God, please throw away those cotton tube socks you keep next to your bed for…um…riding?  Seriously, don’t ride in cotton socks.   Unless you’re cool with your feet feeling like this while snowboarding:

The Shining

Like stomp pads, we’ve got a good range of options from different brands – click here.

But, let’s highlight the hottest selling brand with the sickest prints/colors to choose from – Stance.  This brand has been blowing up over the past couple of years.  First in skate, then in snow, now they’re making high-performance socks for basketball and golf!  Stance is a definite winner in our book.

Be kind to your feet and give Stance socks a serious look this season.  New styles for 2016 will be dropping on the site any day now!

  1. Helmets

Head protection while snowboarding has become more of the norm these days.  If you’re not already wearing one, you’re probably the odd man out on the hill.

Keep your eyes peeled for classic styles like the Rodan, Griffon, or Talan from Anon or the Pivot, Maze, or Gage from Smith.

This is something that I’m definitely going to add to my gear bag this season, just make sure you get the proper size for your head to avoid that dreaded “gaper gap” between your goggles and your helmet.

Gaper Gap

No one is going to want to share an après-ski brewski with you if you’re rocking an obnoxious gaper gap.  Plus…that makes for a wicked tan line on your forehead that is going to be hard to explain.

This is what a correct fit should look like:

Proper Goggle Helmet Fit

  1. Outerwear

Here’s the fun part: you get to put together the sickest Jacket/Pant combo you can possibly find and pray, pray that you don’t run into your outerwear twin on the mountain.

If you spot them and have to cross paths, just play it cool like Tom Cruise in Top Gun…you’ll always get the girl – haha.

She's Lost It

For 2016, there are still a lot of good-looking earth tones in most of the outerwear.  We aren’t going to look like a bunch of highlighters out on snowboards like we did back in 2008 with all those crazy 80s neon colors, but there is something for everyone if that’s still your thing.

You can’t go wrong with a time-tested and proven SMARTY Form Jacket or SMARTY Cargo Pant from 686.

686 Smarty Graphic

Every SMARTY product, both jackets and pants, comes with a removable liner you can leave in or take, making them perfect for any riding condition.

  1. Bindings

2016 Union Force– This bad boy has been in Union’s line for 11 tears strong now…for a reason.

It’s the binding that help put Union on the map and has withstood the tests of time.  Coming in at $219.99, the Union Force offers a huge bang for your buck, with its low profile, lightweight metal construction, and lifetime warranty on the baseplate.  The Force is solid for any style of riding – groomers, park, or backcountry.

16 Union Force

Homerun here, get you a pair in either Black, if you want to fly under the radar, or go with Orange if you want some pop.  Hell, go halfsies with a buddy and each of you swap one binding to get a unique Black and Orange combo!  Union Bindings never disappoint.

2016 Flow Nexus Binding – Another binding to hone in on would be the Flow Nexus.  It packs a heavy punch and is loaded with tons of great features.

2016 Flow Nexus

It offers lightweight construction, canted foot beds to help relieve stress off your knees and ankles, it’s perfect for any type of riding, and features Flow’s original rear entry design that’s made the brand stand apart from everyone else and made a name for the company.

The rear entry system makes these bindings incredibly easy to get in or out of on the fly without having to sit down every time you.

Don’t like rear entry?  Not a problem .  Flow’s new ratchet system allows you to run this binding as a rear-entry binding or traditional entry where you ratchet down the straps before each use.  Versatility is key!

Be sure to check out ALL the new Flow Bindings for 2016

  1. Goggles

Goggles should always be about function and fit, but…if you know what you like/need, you can turn this into a complimentary item that references to your outerwear selection.

We will have TONS of great goggles from top brands like Anon, Smith, Dragon, Spy, VonZipper, and Electric to name a few, but keep an eye out for Oakley’s PRIZM Goggles for 2016.

16 Oakley PRIZM Goggles

Total game-changer…Oakley says, “You will never see snow the same again.” See what they mean by watching this: Oakley Prizm Snow Goggle Video.  PRIZM Technology allows you to shred in practically any light condition without having to change lenses at all.  Killer.

The PRIZM lens is designed to pick up every detail and contrast on the mountain, allowing you to navigate trails, groomers, or the backcountry…and keeping you from getting gobbled up by the Snow Yeti from that Ski Free computer game.  I hated that guy.

We’ll have PRIZM goggles coming in the Airbreak, Flight Deck, Flight Deck XM, Canopy, A-Frame, and Crowbar styles.  They’ll be online for purchase any day now – Oakley Prizm.

  1. Boots

ThirtyTwo Light JP Boot – Every year, ThirtyTwo releases stellar boots into the market that have the perfect blend of classic styling and a twist of something unique.  The “Light  JP” boot is a prime example of that.

16 32 Light JP

Quite easily the lightest boots on the market, these bad boys are slick.  The Articulated Cuff and one-to-one lasting on these boots give you a ton of mobility without being bulky.  And, ultimately shedding extra weight down to the bare essentials, these snowboard boots give you everything you need and nothing you don’t.

JP Walker’s pro model boot is ready for anything you throw at it and for a great price, too.

  1. Snowboards

Arbor Westmark Rocker Snowboard – We’re bringing Arbor snowboards back on board this year and couldn’t be more excited about it.  They’ve always had a compelling and very Eco-friendly story as a snowboarding company, and we respect that.  These guys know what’s up when it comes to making solid boards.

A board we’d like to highlight is a multiple Good Wood award winner called the Westmark Rocker – check it out:

16 Arbor Westmark Rocker

This is a true all-terrain slayer.  It’s got enough flex for endless butters and stylish jibbin’, but enough bite to bomb any hill or charge anything at higher speeds without losing stability.  That’s what I’m talking about, all thanks to Arbor’s Grip Tech contact points for that added bite while carving around.  Oh, yeah…it also comes with a 3-year warranty.  Let me say that again, a 3-YEAR WARRANTY.  We love it!

Lib Tech Hot Knife fundaMENTAL Snowboard – Okay…unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have heard of Lib Tech’s Banana Technology.  It changed the snow industry by featuring a counter-culture REVERSE CAMBER or what we now call “rocker” profile.

16 Lib Tech Hot Knife FM

Rocker is keeping the snowboard industry thriving by making it easier for new riders to learn.  For more seasoned riders, brands like Lib Tech are blending traditional camber profiles with rocker profiles to get the best of both worlds.  Playful flex when you need it…combined with unrelenting grip for power carves.

16 Hot Knife C3 Tech Graph

C3-Tech is what Lib Tech calls this blended profile found in the “Hot Knife” model.  Camber from your bindings to the tip and tail of the board and the perfect amount of rocker between your bindings gives you a playful board.

Add a Hot Knife to your quiver and see what it feels like to shred on easily one of the most versatile boards on the market for intermediate to advanced riders.  You’ll thank us later.  This is one of the hottest boards out on the market right now…landing at our #1 slot!

There you have it, a quick rundown of our Most Wanted Items for 2016.  We’re stoked for the season to get started just like you are!

Look through your gear bag tonight to see what needs upgrading and snag it while it’s fresh on your mind – AmbushBoardCo.com has got you covered.

Here’s to an EPIC season!
